Two Hospitalised After Three Vehicle Crash Near South Chard

Two people have been hospitalised and five casualties were reported following a three vehicle crash near a pub in South Chard.

At around 4.20pm on Wednesday, June 3, emergency services were called to a multi vehicle road traffic collision on Axminster Road in Tatworth, Somerset.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, South Western Ambulance Service and Avon and Somerset Police attended the scene.

According to the fire service, the crash involved three vehicles. There were five casualties, three of whom were already out of their vehicles while two remained inside one vehicle.

Fire crews helped the two casualties out of the vehicle and provided care to all five people affected before the arrival of the ambulance service, the fire service confirmed.

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust said two patients were taken to Yeovil District Hospital following the crash.

Police said there were no serious injuries, but the two patients attended hospital as a precaution.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "We were called just after 4.20pm to Waterlake Road, to reports of an RTC involving three vehicles. There were five casualties; three were out of their vehicles, and two were still inside one vehicle. We sent two crews and firefighters helped the two casualties out of the vehicle and provided casualty care to all five people affected prior to the arrival of the ambulance."

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust added: "We were called at 16:41hrs on Wednesday 03 June to a road traffic collision in Chard. We sent one double-crewed land ambulance and an operations officer to the scene. We conveyed two patients by land ambulance to Yeovil District Hospital."

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We were called to a three-vehicle collision on Axminster Road, in Tatworth, at around 4.20pm yesterday. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries but two people attended hospital as a precaution. The road was closed while emergency services attended. It reopened around 6.30pm."
